The YMCA of Charlotte believes you’re never too young to start giving back. To make their case, they’re bringing in Yahoo’s former Chief Solutions Officer Tim Sanders to discuss how to maintain your confidence through acts of generosity that are available right now, no matter your budget.
Where: Urban Garden at Bank of America Center
When: Friday May 20
Time: 3:30p – 5p
If you haven’t heard of Tim, that’s ok because Starbucks has and used him to create their Starbucks’ Customer Experience online initiative. Ford Motors knows him too and used him to create their re-branding campaign.
For those who attend, Sanders has an incredible story some of which he’ll share as he speaks about his latest book Today We Are Rich. Here’s a taste of what you can expect from a Tim Sanders talk:
The Y hopes young professionals attend and become inspired to get involved in solving some of Charlotte’s most difficult problems, like youth literacy among at-risk elementary school kids. In fact this summer, the Y’s Starfish Academy is looking for volunteers to support enrichment goals at various elementary schools throughout the county. This is a great opportunity to enhance your civic life, which (as was blogged here before) can indirectly have a major effect on your business and/or professional life.
Today’s business environment requires you to be as genuine as you are savvy, and the Sanders will be a great opportunity to improve at both. So if you’re free next Friday, RSVP via the Y’s Facebook Invite or you can email timsanders@ymcacharlotte.org.
(Note: This post was done in collaboration with Joseph Margolis. Neither of us were compensated for our efforts. We support the youth literacy efforts of our local Y and just see this event as a great opportunity for young people interested in making Greater Charlotte, N.C. a better place.)
